Are you willing to open your heart and home for a weekend?
By hosting a participant from the ALICT leadership program, you’re not just offering a place to sleep – you’re offering a taste of South African warmth, a pause for rest, and an unforgettable exchange of stories and culture.
In return, you’ll gain new perspectives, hear incredible stories, and be inspired by what God is doing worldwide.
You’re welcome to host for one or both weekends!

For context, the African Leadership Institute for Community Transformation (ALICT) is a leadership development programme that brings together emerging Christian leaders from across the Global South. Since 2004, ALICT has trained over 500 leaders from 115 countries. Rooted in a biblical worldview, the programme focuses on equipping participants to lead with integrity and compassion in their communities and nations, across sectors such as education, business, government, and civil society.
The program runs annually for 3 months from Le Bac Estate near Wellington/Paarl. These participants are dynamic, passionate changemakers who are deeply invested in transforming their communities. The Host Family Weekend is a meaningful part of the ALICT experience, offering both participants and staff a valuable time of rest, reflection, and connection.
Our goals for Host-Family-Weekends are multi-layered:
After a period of intense learning, participants are given a moment to step away from the programme and the training environment — to rest, reset, and return refreshed for the next phase of the journey.
By staying with local families, participants experience South Africa’s beautiful diversity and hospitality through the lens of family life, church communities, and everyday rhythms.
These weekends often lead to new friendships, deeper connections, and even networks that may offer support in the future — be it in the form of prayer, mentorship, expertise, or care.
For us as a programme, it also serves as an opportunity to foster meaningful ties between our participants and local communities — possibly creating pathways for ongoing support, prayer, and collaboration.
This year, we have 28 participants (14 women and 14 men) from a wide range of countries, including:
Kenya, Nigeria, Angola, Brazil, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Argentina, Philippines, Bolivia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, El Salvador, Uruguay, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Chad, India, Uganda, South Sudan, Lesotho, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.
